How to Save Money on Food while Travelling in Different Countries?

For so many obvious reasons this is people’s favourite concern that what we will eat once we get there! :D

Self-cooking is the cheapest way to stay on a budget. But since some of the travellers are on short trips and it is not easy to cook all day. The smart way is to prepare your breakfast only. If you will be living in a hostel, you will get proper cooking material to cook for you in the morning. In this case, you have to visit the nearest market and get the basic products like bread, milk, eggs or juices at night and store them in your locker or kitchen fridge in summertime (but it is not guaranteed if it will still be there in the morning). A pro tip is to bring Pakistani Lipton or Tapal Tea with you if you are a tea lover. Because you cannot find the same taste anywhere internationally. I usually carry paper cups, sugar, elaichi and tea with me wherever I travel, and trust me it is a great deal.

Now coming to restaurants. Restaurants in mainstream tourist areas are always expensive and mostly overrated. The best hack is to find small shops that are usually run by families and are hidden in the street behind the main walk-through. These shops are not on the front. They offer great value for money if you are saving some bucks. Moreover, there are some cafes run by students or young people in general, they also provide you with a good ambience at a low cost. Another hack is to buy from the takeaway stores only. These stores usually have a small place to cook, pack and deliver. They do not offer seating to cut the cost and sell you at a cheaper price!

Eat fruits as your snack! Try to avoid chips or drinks usually while travelling. Chips are cheaper in Pakistan but not abroad. Try to have fruits for energy as they are not expensive. Water is expensive overall in the world. It is better to buy a 5- or 10-litre bottle once which is relatively cheaper than 0.5 or 1.5 - litre bottles and keep refilling your own water bottle.

Take basic medicines tablets like Panadol, Brufen, Entamezol, Antibiotics etc. for quick healing since there can be an upset that can ruin your whole trip. Medicines are very expensive worldwide.

I brought Chicken Spread and Tea (Patti) from Pakistan.
